We present to you our new column called Environment Recap. It will guide you through latest screenshots and WIP shots from developers with some analysis. First part will take you to Toussaint, grotesque Karnaca, Heryon, misty environments of Syberia, 1918 London, world of the Last Guardian and the streets of Marrakesh.
Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will take you to new region called Toussaint, modeled on the south of France and the Piedmont region of Italy. Unlike previous regions, this one is said to be untouched by war. Toussaint’s inhabitants are very romantic, chivalric and deluded. They live according to codes of honor unknown to people from Geralt’s heartlands. Geralt will get a chance to visit aristocratic castles, inhabitants’ amusement places (like arena presented at one of the screenshots) and so many picturesque fields.
Dishonored 2
Dishonored 2 is on its way. This time you can choose to play as Empress Emily Kaldwin or the royal protector, Corvo Attano. Dishonored 2 moves away from Dunwall to Karnaca, where Corvo was born. While being loyal to the style of the first installment, new environments have more symmetrical look with shades of grotesque. Environments are full of poverty – broken windows, graffiti, cracked walls and many other little details. “Pay what you owe” and “Taxes Taxes Taxes” are among the mottos of the Brave New World. That’s how you create the atmosphere! Dishonored 2 will be available on November 11 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Edge of Eternity
Edge of Eternity is an indie tribute to JRPG classics offering a universe blending fantasy with science-fiction, intense ATB battles and branching story. Your journey will guide you through the planet called Heryon. It has all types of environments: from hidden caverns to grassy plains, from ancient cities to dark spaceships. Developers decided to mix JRPG tradition with western RPG’s vast open worlds to explore.
Syberia 3
Syberia 3 has finally got its release date. The game is set to launch on December 1. Syberia 3 will be the first time for the series to be rendered in full 3D, giving it a more modern look. Environments will not only create the perfect somber mood, but also act as puzzles for players to solve.
Vampyr
New game from Life is Strange is set in London, 1918. Its immersive experience will guide you through vampire mythology. The most important thing though is that every life saved and every life taken by your character will have deadly ramifications to London and the people around it. It seems like the environments won’t be static, neither will be the atmosphere.
Hitman: Episode 3
Marrakesh will be something extraordinary. Marrakesh has been built with a maze of alleys, a range of souks that line the medina walls, and a fully fletched shisha café. Moving upwards, players can enjoy the shade on the signature rooftop terraces of Marrakesh.
Just beyond the busy marketplace, you will find an architectural marvel in the shape of the Swedish Consulate building. The very embodiment of minimalistic Scandinavian design, a mix of glass, concrete and wood offering a powerful contrast to the blazing heat just outside its walls.
The Last Guardian
You’ve awoken in a cave, with no recollection of how you got there and strange markings on your arms. The “man-eating beast” – Trico – lies nearby, in pain and unable to stand, a heavy collar around its neck and armour-plating across its forehead and down its back. With no way to escape, and feeling sympathy for the creature – despite its formidable size and reputation – you set out to help it. IGN presented new screenshots for the long-awaited title. Environment will be a very special part of the game – not only do they create special atmosphere, bul also become a part of a narration. For example an opening cave keeps the focus on the two central characters. It means you’ll pay attention to how Trico responds as you tend to his wounds and satiate his hunger.
